Our club is 100 members strong, working together to offer community service here at home in Dublin, Ohio, and throughout the world!
 
Dublin AM meets at 7:30 AM every Friday morning at The Country Club at Muirfield Village. Visitors are welcome to join us to meet business and community leaders, hear presentations from a some of the areas most interesting speakers and learn more about Rotary International.

This Friday - 9/27 - we welcomed Julie Erwin Rinaldi, a Dublin AM Rotary member and the new Executive Director of the Dublin Food Pantry.

For over 46 years, the Dublin Food Pantry has provided food and essential items to individuals and families within our community who are experiencing food insecurity. The Pantry serves residents throughout the City of Dublin and Dublin City Schools District who are spread across eight zip codes and three counties. 

Erwin-Rinaldi has been an active member of the Dublin A.M. Rotary since 2009, serving as president and Literacy Committee chairperson. She and her husband, David, have enjoyed volunteering together for the Miracle League of Central Ohio, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, and other local non-profits through their years in Dublin. 

“I am thrilled to continue to work with the community to develop creative, caring ways to support those who need a helping hand. I hope to maximize the long-standing community partnerships that I have made in my previous work to continue to find ways to create hope and healing.” 

While not everyone realizes the extent of hunger in the Dublin community, hunger continues to grow. More than 4,700 households live on less than $35,000 annually in our community and nearly 16% of Dublin students are considered economically disadvantaged. 

To meet the growing needs of its neighbors, the Dublin Food Pantry launched a $3 million comprehensive capital campaign in 2022 to purchase and renovate a larger, more accessible facility from which to serve the community. Thanks to the generosity of the Dublin community, the Pantry began serving clients at its new home at 6608 Dublin Center Drive on October 11, 2023. 

The new space is certainly being put to good use. Compared to the first quarter of 2023, the Food Pantry has had a nearly 30% increase in the number of households served, with a 22% increase in overall Pantry visits during the first quarter of 2024. That equates to 171,447 equivalent meals distributed in just the first three months of the year. 

As the Dublin Food Pantry enters this new phase, the continued support of the community is vital to ensuring the most vulnerable receive the food and essential items necessary. As the demands on the Pantry continue to increase, additional financial and human resources are required to meet those needs.

Topic: 

Erin's role as a Transition Coordinator is to assist students with disabilities with making the transition to adulthood, primarily through coordinating services and activities in the areas of post secondary education, employment and independent living. She facilitates internship and job shadow opportunities in the community and works with families and service providers to create individualized plans to meet the needs of our students. She serves on multiple school teams that work together to provide experiences to our students to best prepare them for life after graduation.

Dr. Christopher Hoch is in his fourth year as director of The Ohio State University Marching and Athletic Bands. He also is associate director of bands and an assistant professor in Ohio State's School of Music. Prior to his appointment, he served one year as interim director, two years as associate director and one year as assistant director of Marching and Athletic Bands. He served for seven years as the director of bands at Rutherford B. Hayes High School in Delaware, OH, and three years as director of The Ohio State University Marching Band Alumni.

Dr. Hoch’s work with The Ohio State University Marching Band has received national and international recognition for innovation and creativity in show design; he has been the architect behind many of the shows that have been watched by millions of people on YouTube and at various locations around the country. Under Dr. Hoch’s leadership, the marching band performed at the first College Football Playoff National Championship game after the 2014 season, and at Wembley Stadium in London in 2015.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Hoch serves as the musical director of the Scioto Valley Brass and Percussion Company, a Columbus-based British-style brass band, and he is active around the state of Ohio as a clinician, guest conductor, musical arranger and guest speaker.

Dr. Hoch’s Ohio State education includes bachelor’s degrees in music education and mathematics, master’s degrees in instrumental conducting and music education, and a PhD in music education.

Raised in Ripley, Ohio, Steve Stivers learned from his mother and father the importance of family, hard work and public service, which have been the values he has carried with him throughout his life.
 
In May 2021, he was selected to lead the Ohio Chamber of Commerce as President and CEO. The Ohio Chamber of Commerce is the state’s leading business organization whose mission it is to aggressively champion free enterprise, economic competitiveness and growth for the benefit of all Ohioans. In addition to his responsibilities as President and CEO, Stivers works with legislators, business leaders and government officials every day on issues affecting Ohio Chamber member companies.
 
Prior to joining the Ohio Chamber, Stivers represented Ohio’s 15th Congressional District from 2011 until May 16, 2021. He served on the Financial Services Committee and was the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development, and Insurance.
 
In January 2003, he was appointed to the Ohio Senate and successfully ran for a full term in 2004. He was assigned to various committees and chaired Insurance, Commerce and Labor. He served in the Ohio Senate until 2008.
 
Throughout his career, Steve Stivers has led the way supporting programs and initiatives to encourage job creation, promote economic development, and put our country’s fiscal house in order.
 
A career soldier, Stivers has served over 30 years in the Ohio Army National Guard and holds the rank of Major General. He served the United States overseas during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar and Djibouti where he led 400 soldiers and contractors and is proud that each and every one returned home safely to the United States. Stivers received the Bronze Star for his leadership throughout the deployment.
 
Stivers received both his bachelor’s degree and his MBA from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the Army War College. He resides in Upper Arlington with his wife, Karen, and children, Sarah and Sam.

This event is a unique opportunity to hear directly from Jessica about the compassionate initiatives and touching stories behind the organization's commitment to providing comfort and smiles to children in foster care.

Since 1999, My Very Own Blanket has been dedicated to warming the hearts of children in the foster care system through the gift of personalized blankets and pillowcases. These items offer comfort and a sense of security during challenging transitions, reminding them they are cared for and remembered.  Under her leadership, and with the support of volunteers and community partners, nearly 7,000 blankets are lovingly crafted and donated each year, each personalized with a child’s name.

Topic: Envision Dublin Community Plan Update

This presentation include an overview of the project, which marks the first update to the City of Dublin Community Plan in 11 years. Serving as the long-range planning document, it strategically manages the city's growth for the coming decades and provides policy direction for the City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, the development community, and city staff. The plan encompasses growth management strategies for all aspects of the City of Dublin, including land use recommendations, infrastructure needs—such as sewer and water improvements—roadway and multi-modal infrastructure, sustainability efforts, and parks and recreation needs.  The presentation includes extensive public engagement, and how it impacts all members of the City of Dublin.

Topic: John Glenn Columbus International Airport - CMH Next

Kristen will share the plans and provide an update for CMH Next, the planned new terminal. 

The existing terminal at CMH was opened more than six decades ago in 1958 and is reaching the end of its useful lifee. The CRAA is set to embark on a significant development project at the John Glenn International Airport, involving the construction of a new passenger terminal and adjacent parking garage.  "The Evolution of City Barbeque," featuring guest speaker Rick Malir, Founder and Executive Chairman of City Barbeque and Pilot of Single-engine Planes.

Rick recounted the remarkable journey of City Barbeque, which began in Columbus in 1999. From crafting restaurant tables in Rick's garage to becoming a major barbeque chain with 65 locations across eight states, City Barbeque's story is one of authentic entrepreneurship and vision. Raised on a Kansas farm, Rick developed a robust work ethic and a keen entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. We were excited to have Rick share his inspiring story, his strategic vision for his business, his insights on the importance of culture and people, and much more.

The Fiber to Every Home project, a partnership between Dublin and Altafiber. This project will ensure that every premises in the city has access to internet service up to 10 gigabits, which helps meet our community's growing broadband demands and supports Dublin's goal of being the most connected city in the nation.

We enjoyed an extraordinary program honoring our club's past presidents! 
 
Most past presidents were in attendance so we highly encourage reviewing the Flickr page for photos!
 
City Manager Megan O'Callaghan, Mayor Chris Amorose Grooms, and other members of the city council presented a proclamation from the city.
 
As part of our program, we also conducted a leadership workshop positioning past presidents to facilitate break out sessions with club members to share leadership insights, highlight special projects, programs, fund-raisers, and lessons learned from their year of service.
 
District Governor David Uhl will conclude our program.

Scholarship winners and their families were honored at the meeting. Dublin AM Rotary is pleased to offer annual scholarships to students who reside in the Dublin City School District and have been selected from a very competitive field based on their academic success, demonstrated leadership and community service, a pledge that they have led, and will continue to lead an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle, quality of a written essay, and financial need.

Kurt & Ingrid asked us to move to 1 of 5 tables based on the topic you preferred.  Every table shared 2 or 3 recommendations after 10 minutes of discussion for going forward leadership to consider.
 
We have such a strong club and there are always ways to improve.  We want your opinion and consider this ideas speed dating another visioning exercise to grow on for coming years at our club.

This meeting featured speaker J.M. Rayburn discussing the Dublin City Division of Transportation & Mobility.
 
J.M. Rayburn is a Transportation & Mobility Planner for the City of Dublin.  He works toward Dublin's vision to be the most connected, sustainable and resilient global city of choice.  This presentation will center on how the City’s Division of Transportation & Mobility is implementing that vision with new policies and transformative projects.
 
J.M. also serves as LGBTQ+ Liaison between the community of the City of Dublin and the Office of the City Manager. He volunteers his time, effort and skills as a board member with Central Ohio Greenways and the Pat DiNunzio Ovarian Cancer Fund.
