A Talk About The Supreme Court
Out of the 104 Million cases filed with the state and federal courts, only 80 cases will have permission to have The Supreme Court hear the case.  We are fortunate to have 2 members that have been heard in the US Supreme Court.
McGee’s case involved a Kentucky criminal charge against a former boyfriend accused of child abuse and the right to hear from your accuser face to face.

Of course, with juveniles there are issues of competency. Interestingly, even though the US Supreme Court voted as expected against the accused, the State of Kentucky granted higher permission to its citizen and reversed the decision.
Mike’s case was regarding the Fair Debt Collection Act and the least sophisticated Consumer Test. After the sixth Circuit loss regarding the State right to collect through this process and a certain collection letter, there was an 8-0 decision in favor on the letter and a no decision on the right to collect.

Very interesting questions were asked about the court and experiences.
Both mentioned the feeling of awe and great respect for this court and all it means to us as citizens of this country.
